The Op Shop
Welcome To The Minyip Op Shop

In 2005, the interest of conducting an Oppportunity Shop at Minyip was encouraged and supported by the Rev. Deacon Con Taylor of the Uniting Church in Australia, who was then Minister for the Uniting Church congregations of Minyip, Murtoa, Rupanyup and Marnoo.
After some 'ground work' and several meetings, an enthusiastic band of volunteers proceeded to set up the Opportunity Shop, located in the Hall behind St. Andrew's Uniting Church in Main Street, Minyip. The Minyip Op Shop operates under the umbrella of the Minyip/Murtoa Uniting Church Council.
The Minyip Op Shop was given a grant from The Uniting Church "Pancake Day Appeal" which is being used to furnish the shop with shelving and clothing racks. The aim of operating the Op Shop is to raise funds for the Uniting Church of Minyip/Murtoa and for local Minyip organizations and institutions , as well as being a location where people can call in for a chat, have a "cuppa," or just browse the shop.

The Minyip Op Shop was officially opened by the Rev. Deacon Con Taylor on Friday, 21st. April, 2006.
Rev. Deacon Taylor's opening speech included the phrase "If it's not good enough for your best friend, it's not good enough for the Op Shop" in relation to donated goods.
The quote has become the "motto" for the Op Shop.
The Op Shop is staffed by twenty-eight dedicated volunteers including three emergencies staff .
