"Millford Stores" came into being on the 18th August 1988, when the present owners, John, Ellen and Anthony (AJ) purchased the Grocery Store which was situated in 58 Main Street, Minyip. It was our aim to double the store sales in the first six months, but this happened in three. The freehold was owned by the Rowan brothers, who years before had owned the grocery section, but had run the hardware in 56 Main Street and drapery and haberdashery in 54 Main Street. We purchased the freehold in 1989, and eventually moved the groceries into the large building (54 Main Street), with the first shop (58 Main Street) becoming a store room. The first shop was built in the 1880's and is virtually in the same condition as when it was built. The store was a "Goodfellows" store when we purchased the business; it then became "Friendly Grocer IGA" and presently it is "IGA X-Press." Millford Stores are agents for V-Line and make reservations for coach and rail travel. We are also Elgas distributers, sub-newsagents, agents for Cash's names tags and Drive-through dry cleaning, and we provide a key cutting service . We pride ourselves on the fact that we serve the town and district of Minyip as part of the IGA Family of Stores, which deliver very competitive shopping.
